Note to self: When scheduling a book signing, make sure that someone has the books.
Yep. Not hard to figure this one out. Huge miscommunication between me and Kelly at Fountain Bookstore, so that after she moved furniture around to accommodate me, I lugged in the beach chair and pina colada stuff and Tom inflated the palm tree ... we realized that we each thought the other was providing the books. Oops. And even though the publisher is just up the street, they were also out of books!
What if you had a book signing and no books came?
Well, we had a nice time talking with a couple of friends who showed up ... and then we folded, deflated and re-moved furniture, with promises to reschedule. Sigh.
On the bright side, people who want the book can place orders with Kelly, for either signed or unsigned copies. Visit www.fountainbookstore.com for those details.
And on the "wow, how appropriate" side, this really is soooo North Caicos. There, I've had to visit the store three times in a week to see if the eggs have arrived; call several times to determine if the ferry is on regular or holiday schedule; and wander all over the island to find out who got my electric bill.
Welcome to the islands.
