Two months ago, I quit doing my blog. But as the song goes, "I was on the wagon, but I fell off."
Turns out I missed it. I missed the discipline of writing something at least once a week, and I missed the fun of writing. I had thought that the lack of feedback I was getting was a signal that the blog had run its course, but I now realize that it wasn't about the feedback at all.
So here we go again, except that this time, it's for me. My old blog was a personal column like you might find in a newspaper's features section. Now I'm not going to concern myself with having something to say each week.
This one will focus on the "log" part of Web log ... a way of keeping track of my creative projects, both writing and mosaic, alongside any musings about those projects or updates. It's another of the many lists that keep my life in order: the daily list, the dinner menu list, what I need to take on the next trip to North Caicos, etc. It's meant for me, but I'll post it if anyone wants to peek at what's going on.
Today is June 1, first day of a new month. I start a class in acrylic painting tonight, and perhaps these beginnings have prompted me to begin a renewed effort at keeping the creativity going.
My current projects are a revision of "Block Game" in anticipation of entering a short-story contest, development of an experimental piece based on obituary writing, a mosaic triptych for a bicycle-themed show in September and a mosaic gift for my niece's wedding in October. Progress on those, plus others, will be what I log.
As I don't expect most folks to be interested in these details of my work life, there won't be regular sharing on Facebook of my entries. But you're welcome to drop in any time.
